Thank you to friends, acquaintances and strangers who so kindly let us film in their homes, gardens and air raid shelters! Not only do we appreciate your hospitality and kindness, but we know that the vintage locations have added greatly to the authenticity of the film.
The film includes photography and filming in the following places:
Beckenham, Bickley, Bromley, Chislehurst, Crofton, Elmers End, Farnborough, Hayes, Keston, Knockholt, Orpington, Petts Wood , Shortlands, West Wickham and Wigan!
Watch the film and see if you can spot people and places you know!
Some of the stories used to help create the script were also from Beckenham, Bexley, Biggin Hill, Bromley, Dartford, Eltham, Lewisham, Otford, Spitalfields, as well as London, Leeds and Wigan.
Is it true that some of the scenes were filmed in Wigan?
Hi Dave! Yes! Ones that made the final cut are…an outdoor scene including an old demolished house which was used to represent a bombed house!
Some indoor scenes where the house features were appropriate for 1940, such as old tiled floor, original fitted kitchen /scullery cupboards etc.
Hope this helps! Thanks for your interest! Anna
